Roman Britain through to Henry Tudor, Boudicca to the 6 wives of Henry VIII, we bring them into your classroom through hands-on learning, and the children will love it.
We'll also bring a genuine, solid oak, Pillory that once stood outside the Old Courthouse at Beaumaris. Open the punishment book and start your list, it's much more effective than the 'thinking chair'.
We are sure you have heard the Chinese proverb, Tell me and I forget. Show me and I understand. Involve me and I remember. As true now as it has always been and we try never to forget it.
Why not let us show you what we can do for your school, completely free of charge. Book a double lesson trial and choose your subject. A special treat for your class that won't cost you a single groat.
We know that children learn at different speeds and have different skills. Sometimes they forget; we want to help them all to remember and active involvement can often bring out their special skills.
Personally I can't remember every one of my maths lessons but I still remember the day a dentist brought teeth into school. The day a farmer brought animals into the classroom seems only yesterday. Those lessons were different and seem like only yesterday.
Mindful of the national curriculum we actively encourage children's involvement throughout the visit. When did you last spark a tinderbox with flint or handle a Holy relic? This is defiantly not a "sit quietly, be good and listen" type of lesson. Always factual, never boring, not too gruesome and always done with a sense of humour.
Whatever period is being covered we follow a similar pattern, splitting the day into sections. Our 50 foot timeline, dated 3000 bc to the present day, helps the children to understand where in history the period under discussion falls. Children can participate throughout the day with many activities ranging from food preparation to play and dance. Apprentice executioners are always welcome, no experience necessary, full training given.
Specific items on the national curriculum are addressed such as Roman Britain, Boudicca's revolt, the Norman conquest, Magna Carta, the Church or the wives of Henry 8th. We explain what it was like to live in those times through period clothing, sickness and healing, play, music, crime and punishment. We discuss food, building techniques, transportation and the role of the church.

Mark the Victualler will provide samples of the food of the period. (We promise absolutely NO roast dormice on our Roman day!)
Weapons and armour were constantly changing as technology advanced and extensive selections are available to handle. A roman testudo (tortoise) advancing across a playground can be a frightening sight.
The medical table
Medical diagnosis using the Four Humours by Maximus Septicus, doctor to the Roman legion, or a tooth extraction by Mr Leech, the barber/surgeon, will guarantee the class will look after their teeth for years to come.
We always leave a reminder of our visit, such as posters, colouring in sheets or educational toys. You might even end up with a copy of Magna Carta or the Lindisfarne Gospels.
Magna Carta
For any further information please do not hesitate to contact Paul or Mark via either the 'contact page' or that quaint old fashioned technology; the telephone. All calls are answered in the UK, by real people, with no option menu's, no background music and certainly not by a machine.
